Mid Century Original Oil Painting of a Bride and Groom by Dora Holzhandler

$1,200.00

Stunning and still very vibrant mid century original oil on canvas painting by the late Dora Holzhandler depicting a bride and groom in a garden with children and cats in attendance. Known for her naive style, Ms. Holzhandler got inspiration from folk art and incorporated a recurring theme of hers in this piece of green verdant gardens. Signed by the artist and dated "1965".

The artist, Dora Holzhander, was born in Paris in 1928 to Polish Jewish parents who emigrated to London in the 1930s. In her early twenties she embarked on a successful art career. She converted to Buddhism and said "now, as a Buddhist, I can really enjoy being Jewish". She made time daily to paint while raising three children and continued to do so up until her death in 2015.

Professionally framed in a green and gold gilt custom made wood frame by Fields Art Gallery in Los Angeles, California. The painting measures 34 1/2 inches high by 24 1/4 inches wide framed. The canvas itself measures approximately 31 inches by 20 inches.
