Made by Couroc of Monterey, California probably in the 1970's, this round decorative bowl has bits of abalone shell and seaweed inlaid in the interior center. Couroc made their pieces in black satin phenolic which is supposed to be impervious to alcohol. Not sure why this was a selling feature back then but apparently there was a lot of alcohol being sloshed around. Each piece is hand inlaid with a variety of materials depending on the design. The unique sea life design of the bowl has natural indigenous elements that were collected by divers off the coast of Monterey, CA.
It measures 7 3/4" across. There are some tiny scratches on the interior and exterior bottom of the bowl as well as a few of those small smudges that can occur on Couroc pieces. Wipe clean with mild soapy water if needed and wipe dry with a microfiber cloth. Do not put in the dishwasher. Made by Couroc in California, USA. Original foil label intact.
